Here is everything it does.
Inkroll is made for play-by-post, so the pieces fit together. Here is the whole of it, one part at a time.
Built around the writing.
Inkroll is built first as a good place to read and write. The posts get the room, the page stays calm, and the tools sit a click away when you need them.
- New posts arrive live, with a quiet typing indicator and a marker that holds your place
- Quoted speech, headings, lists, and images, all cleanly styled
- Come back and land right where you left off
Read it however you like.
The same chapter, three ways. Pick the layout that reads best for your group: a clean nameplate column, a chronicle of medallions, or a codex with a character sidebar.
Chronicle entries with portrait medallions, the gamemaster set apart as narrator.
A single clean column with a nameplate and a coloured accent edge.
A persistent character sidebar beside the prose, information rich.
Give your campaign its own look.
Every table starts from a set of crafted preset themes, from deep forest green to arcane violet to aged parchment, each with its own colours and backdrop. Storyteller adds full control of the colours, fonts, and background, and soon you will be able to import and export a style, so the community can build on each other's work.
Real character sheets, built in.
Post in your character’s voice, keep their stats a glance away, and trust that every post is pinned to the sheet exactly as it was at that point in the story.
- Post as your character, with portrait and name attached
- Edit hit points, slots, and conditions right above the composer
- Versioned sheets, so an old post shows the character as they were
Roll dice by typing them.
Type a roll into your post and Inkroll handles it the moment you publish, then saves it for everyone. The dice are part of writing, not a separate step.
Some things are just for one player.
Slip a private note to one player, or keep a twist between you and the rogue who picked the lock. Everyone else never receives the text at all.
- Address a passage to one player, a few, or the whole party
- Hidden on the server, so the words never reach the wrong screen
- The gamemaster always sees everything
Ask what happened in your campaign.
Long campaigns pile up a lot of posts. The Chronicle keeps a running recap, answers questions about what happened, and gathers everyone you have met, so the story stays fresh even when months pass between chapters.
- A running recap of every chapter, kept current as you play
- Ask a question, get an answer from your own posts
- Browse the whole cast you have met, each with its own mark
Your maps, a click away.
A drawer next to the composer holds what the moment needs: a note for the scene, a campaign world map with the party’s position, and a per-chapter battle map where tokens snap to the grid. Show it as the story moves, and every post remembers how things stood.
Mark the places that matter and track where the party is.
Drop tokens on a grid; players move their own as they post.
Built for your system.
Inkroll comes with ready-made sheets for Fifth Edition, Pathfinder 2e, Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun, Grimwild, and Cortex Prime, plus a system-agnostic option, each built around that game’s rules: the right fields, the right dice, the right stats on every post. Power users can clone, customize, import, and export a ruleset of their own. And if your system is missing, ask us: we add new systems for free when there is a table waiting for them.
- Several systems ready the moment you start
- Sheets that know your stats, saves, and dice
- Clone and customize your own ruleset, then import or export it
See your campaign in numbers.
Inkroll reads your whole campaign and turns it into a picture: who posts and when, how the story flowed chapter to chapter, the cast at a glance, and whether the dice have been kind. Nothing to set up; it is just there when you are curious.
- Posting cadence and streaks across the whole campaign
- Per-character and per-chapter breakdowns, with playful superlatives
- Dice luck laid bare, so you know who the gods favour
Print your campaign as a book.
When a campaign matters, export it as a designed, print-ready book: a cover, a title page, a table of contents, chapter openers, and your posts set like a novel or a faithful play-log. PDF for print, EPUB for the reader. The kind of keepsake a long game earns.
